Pretoria, 23 May 2019 – Slamforce Africa is proud to officially announce that SFA01 will come to life in the legendary Rembrandt Hall, at the University of Pretoria on 27 October 2019.
The Rembrandt Hall has played host to 1000s of international sporting events through the years and has always had a very strong association to all forms of combat sport in South Africa. Slamforce Africa have partnered with Tuks Sport in this incredible adventure to bring professional wrestling back to its glory days and establish a premier wrestling territory in Africa.
Slamforce Africa Pty (Ltd.) President & CEO, Cornelius A.P. van Tonder had the following to say in regard to the partnership with Tuks Sport: “We have spent the last 18 months working incredibly hard at bringing Slamforce Africa to life, and a lot of that hard work was spent on research. We wanted to ensure that if we embark on this journey that we do it right from day one. We have realised from the onset that professional wrestling has taken a major knock in terms of popularity over the last decade when it comes to the art locally. Our biggest challenge we realised was rebuilding an audience, not the sport itself, the sport never left. Die hard fans still watch international products. Slamforce Africa, is a next generation wrestling promotion, meant to usher in a new era for professional wrestling in Africa. If we are going to take ourselves seriously in terms of being the gateway for the next generation of wrestlers in Africa, then we need to back-up our claims and go build our support and audience at the stomping ground of the next generation of African leaders, business men and women and the future of this continent, at the University of Pretoria.”
Part of the research that has been done by Slamforce Africa delivered another interesting statistic that makes the decision to take Slamforce Africa to the famous Rembrandt Hall, is that 43% of live event ticket sales garnered through major ticketing distributors in South Africa, falls in the student demographic.
Any body whom has ever been to the famous LC de Villiers Sports Complex, at the University of Pretoria, and had the privilege before to watch any major sporting event in the Rembrandt Hall, will attest that it is one of the most beautiful and tranquil venues in South Africa, that has always been considered to be one of the very best sporting grounds with some of the most magnificent facilities for a wide range of sport in South Africa.
Now, Tuks Sport will be adding another massive accomplishment to the prestigious University’s long list of sporting accolades, being the proud hosts and supporters of Africa’s first premier professional wrestling promotion, Slamforce Africa.
Tickets for the event will go on Sale, 17 June 2019.
